The ever soul searching producer, Minus Magnus. continues exploring his inner emotions with a new single called ‘Cynical Romance’ on Mhost Likely Black. Drawing inspiration from the late 90s rave and trance pool, the artist takes us on a personal love story through hopefulness, euphoria, breakdowns, and harmony. The single comes complete with three wicked remixes from Aahan, Skodde and humagn.

‘Cynical Romance (Main Mix)’ kicks off with a shimmer of hope in the darkness: a vocal stab saying “you and I” are surrounded with dark and rhythmic EBM energy. As the love story progress, a hopeful 90s inspired trance acid line fills the void with an increasingly rhythmic velocity that culminates into a euphoric peak. Endorphins rush into the newfound love! The post-peak breakdown provides an unbalance or uncertainty - a moment of contemplation - but in the end, we find ourselves in harmony as all the elements in the track are in balance. Emotional and powerful escapism.

The Canadian techno artist Aahan (Monnom Black and Clergy; to Stroberload, ISMUS and Union Trance Mission) is first up on remix duty and takes ‘Cynical Romance’ into an industrial banging techno bomb. Before the new and exciting Norwegian duo, Skodde (Flux Collective) continues with a modern cut of techno with a high-speed aesthetic. Düsseldorf, Germany based producer humagn, closes the EP in a deeper techno realm, with textured rhythms within an anxious soundscape.
